The BEST thing about this place? I can walk to it. It's best for breakfast - lots of decent food at a fair price. Coney are decent, they will cook the fries crispy if you ask (unlike the place down the street). It's a nice, homey place, the waitresses will remember you if you go enough. She knows I want coffee, and will have rye toast. Hmmm, I don't really want to cook tonight, maybe a walk up the street is on my menu!

This is our "go to" place for a great breakfast at a reasonable price. The staff is super nice and friendly, and the restaurant is very clean. The breakfast skillets are really plentiful and delicious. My favorite is the Southern skillet, smothered in the southern gravy! Eggs are cooked to perfection, and the portions are large. You will NOT be disappointed after dining here!

Based on the dates of the existing reviews, this place is overdue for another one. For me, Mirage is a good standby. Even though we haven't taken advantage of it yet, it is one of the few places that are open 24 hours in the south Dearborn Hts area. I thought the chicken lemon rice soup was great. You order a cup and you get what most places call a bowl. I've had the fettuccine alfredo, and it was actually very good as well. And of course, for a Greek restaurant, you will almost have to try to serve bad saganaki (flaming cheese, fire to be extinguished by brandy and lemon juice). But so far, my favorite is the Spinach Pie dinner. The spinach pie was a good golden brown, the phyllo was flaky as it should be, and the "slice" of pie is about the length of my forearm. I was rather impressed with the rice and red sauce too. But, with any good, it comes with the bad. Unless the recipe has changed, I would suggest to NOT order the lasagna. As with any other of their dishes, the portion was generous, but it literally reminded me of Chef Boyardee. Maybe the Chef Boyardee brand sells its sauce separately to restaurants? The decor isn't the best (however, there are cool murals on the walls), but honestly, that's not half as important as the food. So, by that standard, I'll be back to Mirage when I get a hankering for Spinach Pie or need a 4am breakfast.

This place is disgusting!!! I grew up in the neighborhood and used to go to them back when they were the Van Born Cafe or whatever it was called. When they sold in the early 2000s, the place went WAY downhill. If you're paying $6 for a meal, you can't expect much. I know that. This in mind, I won't say anything about the indoor seating and atmosphere becuase I think it fits the bill of just about any hole-in-the-wall coney island. But the food was DISGUSTING! I went there ONCE after they switched owners and will never go back. I ordered biscuits and gravy and for one, my gravy was yellow and just downright nasty. Go to Mykonos across the street. If the food isn't better (which I'll almost guarantee it will be), it'll at least be cleaner.

Out on another "Sunday Morning Breakfast Adventure", I was determined to find a Coney that I've never been to before. Some how I stumbled across the Mirage. Much to my surprise this place wasn't that bad, the atmosphere maybe left a bit to be desired but mah, no big deal. The coffee was OK, but the breakfast special found a special place in my heart. I think for $5 or $6 you get three eggs, three strips of bacon, three sausage, a piece of ham, hash browns and toast. How can you say "no" to that? The food was pretty good and I've actually gone back there again just for the special. If your really hungry and on a bit of a budget this is the place to go.

Prices are good and the food mainly the goulash is out of this world.

Sort of dingy and dirty inside this place. The food was just o-k nothing special. Did not enjoy getting the free mold on my toast.
